Scars are incredibly common, often due to injuries to the skin caused by accident, medical procedure or skin lesions. Acne can also be the cause of scarring, a problem that affects many people. For some, scars can be the source of embarrassment, especially when they appear on areas of the face or body that are generally not covered. Fortunately, there are several options to diminish the appearance of scars.
Depending on the characteristics of the scar (or multiple scars) in question, there are several options for treatment. Factors such as type of scar, shape, color and location, as well as lifestyle, age and skin type and quality of the patient, will help Dr. Victor determine which treatment option is best.
Dr. Victor will also provide the patient with at home remedies as well as “need to know” information about lifestyle habits that may contribute to flare ups
- Cortisone injections into the scar
- Elite Laser treatments to remove the blood vessels from within the scar–most scars have blood vessels throughout
- Surgically cut out scar and suture skin with clean, neat and much smaller sutures resulting in a much less noticeable mark on the skin
- For depressions or indentations of the skin, Dr. Victor uses fillers and, in particular, silicone–as it is a permanent filler–to fill in any depressions leaving the skin smoother and more even
