Blood Vessel Removal
Visible blood vessels or telangiectasia, often known as spider veins or broken capillaries, are a common condition–especially amongst women. These blood vessels become visible because of a backup of blood cells within veins, causing the capillaries to enlarge. They can develop as a result of hormonal changes, rosacea, pregnancy, sun exposure or other causes, though heredity is also a common factor. Many patients find these spider veins to be unsightly, particularly when they are present on areas such as the nose, chin and cheeks.
Thankfully, laser treatment can be used as a highly effective and minimally invasive way of reducing or eliminating the appearance of redness, spider veins and other blood vessel issues. Dr. Victor generally recommends treatment with the Elite laser, a technologically advanced laser system that can be used to erase unsightly blood vessels. The Elite laser uses controlled pulses of light to heat up and collapse the damaged veins, which are then gradually reabsorbed by the body. This is the most effective laser treatment method for both facial and leg veins, and is safe for use on any portion of the skin.
- The patient is evaluated by Dr. Victor and an optimal treatment plan is established.
- During laser treatment, a warm or hot sensation may be experienced. Anesthesia is an option, but most patients find the treatment to be tolerable with no need for anesthetic.
- Each treatment session generally lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, but length of treatment may vary depending on size and location of the target area.
- Multiple treatments are usually necessary for best results, with treatments performed at intervals of four to six weeks.
